ZenTRACK Barra Operations Guide
(For operations, support teams, fleet admins)
Written By Support Team
1. Purpose and Scope
This guide describes the operational behavior of the ZenTRACK Barra and its integration with the ZenduOne platform. It covers data expectations, the asset creation workflow, and the technical server-side connection.
2. ZenduOne Details
Overview
In ZenduOne, the ZenTRACK Barra functions as a high-efficiency asset tracker. Depending on the specific hardware variant (Barra Core, Barra Edge, or Barra GPS), the device provides:
Trip Tracking & History: Granular breadcrumb trails and stop/start history.
Multi-Modal Location: GPS/GNSS positioning for outdoors, with Wi‑Fi and Cell Tower fallback for indoor or obstructed environments.
Health Monitoring: Real-time battery status and automated alerts for "Battery Low" or "Battery Critical" states.
Security Features: Magnetic activation logs and tamper detection alerts.
Motion Intelligence: Accelerometer-based movement detection to trigger reporting only when the asset is active, preserving battery life.
Creation Process
To register a new ZenTRACK Barra in the platform, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Assets page and select “+ Create Asset”.
Input the Asset Name, Groups, and Tags. Click Next.
Tracker Configuration:
Tracker Type: Select “Digital Matter Tracker”.
Serial Number: Insert the IMEI and Serial Number.
Select the relevant Data Plan and Asset Plan. Click Next.
Add optional Financial Data (e.g., purchase date, cost). Click Next.
Configure optional Sharing Data settings. Click Next.
Add any internal Comments and click Save.
Battery Level Configuration (Required for Battery Reporting)
To enable Device Battery Level reporting for Digital Matter devices, ZenduOne must be configured with specific device identifiers and model information.
Required Configuration
When creating or editing a Digital Matter Asset, ensure the following fields are correctly populated:
1. Model
Select the correct Digital Matter model according to the device model number:
Oyster → 87
Oyster BLE → 102
Barra → 110
Yabby → 97
*Add only the number in the form field.
2. IMEI
Must be entered in the IMEI field.
This value is found on the device sticker.
3. Serial Number
Must be entered in the Serial Number field.
This value is also found on the device sticker.
Important Notes
All three fields (Model, IMEI, and Serial Number) are mandatory for battery level retrieval.
If any of these fields are missing or incorrect, ZenduOne will not be able to display the device battery level.
Battery data is sourced directly from Digital Matter APIs and depends on accurate device identification.
3. Server Connection
The ZenTRACK Barra does not communicate directly with ZenduOne via standard cellular protocols. Instead, the architecture uses a cloud-to-cloud integration:
Data Pipeline: The device sends encrypted data to the Digital Matter Device Manager (OEM Server).
Integration: ZenduOne establishes an HTTPS connection to the Device Manager API to fetch JSON data payloads.
